Role Summary:

BHGE is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Process and Pipeline Services team in Calgary, AB. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic and advanced analysis of data collected by pipeline inspection tools under the guidance of the Analysis Leads

  • Analysis, interpretation and assessment of pipeline inspection data with the emphasis on positioning data obtained from the on board Inertial Navigation System

  • Able to interpret the tool signal data and effectively identify and characterize common anomaly types

  • Able to recognize common pipeline fittings and construction methods and is able to identify and characterize them in the inspection tool data

  • Able to perform basic data set-up and anomaly analysis in accordance with documented procedures or verbal instructions

  • Understands and is competent in the use of the necessary analysis tools within relevant software applications in order to effectively perform expected analysis duties

  • Efficiently communicate with other analysts or analysis teams for combined projects

  • Basic understanding of the underlying tool technology and theory

  • Development of inspection reports to customer requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in Science or Engineering. Ideally in Geomatics Engineering, or a related field

  • Understanding of GPS surveys and various mapping projections is an advantage

  • Proven data analysis skill sets

  • Numbers oriented

  • Extremely organized

  • Excellent logical thinking

  • Fast learner and team player

  • Exceptional knowledge of computer systems and software

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Access and database, etc.

  • Excellent English writing skills

  • Analytical aptitude and should be comfortable working under tight time constraints whilst providing thorough and accurate work.

Desired Characteristics:

  • At least 2 – 3 years of experience in data analysis

  • Previous experience with a pipeline inspection company and ANSI/ASNT ILI-PQ-2005 certification is an advantage but not required
