PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for the regional delivery of CPKC Transload Services in Canada to support quality revenue growth for CPKC. Provide a best in class level of service, through a continuously improving and expanding network of transload facilities that enable both the retention of existing CPKC business and a foundation for revenue growth. To develop facility based value-added services beyond the basic transfer and delivery, or to develop specialized facility-based transfer and delivery services to handle new commodities.

This position can be based in Calgary, AB, Hamilton, ON, Mississauga, ON, Dallas, TX or Kansas City, MO.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support CPKC Commercial in securing quality revenue growth for CPKC

  • Understand the surrounding business climate for each facility, along with the third party operator

  • Identify net new opportunities for CPKC with Transload partners

  • Lead Transload opportunities through concept, development and execution

  • Develop transload and delivery (T&D) rate quotes

  • Establish relationships with territorial Train and Engine (T&E) personnel, Service Design and Customer Service to ensure effective and efficient rail service to transload locations

  • Manage relationships with service partners (e.g. transload and warehouse operators, trucking companies, construction contractors)

  • Manage supply of service agreements, pricing and rate contracts

  • Develop and manage expense and capital budgets, forecasts and MYP

  • Lead transload facility expansion projects (from high-level design through development of business case for capital to site construction and commissioning)

  • Support CPKC risk, environmental and safety policies

  • Effectively manage CPKC transload facility network in the specified territory, to enable retention and growth of CPKC revenues

  • Support CPKC Commercial teams to develop cost effective solutions for handling transload opportunities

  • Monthly validation, audit, approval and payment of Transload invoices

  • Develop and implement both short and long-term plans to improve overall Transload product offering

  • Assist with the ongoing policy and procedure improvements around contract administration and pricing

  • Attend customer meetings with Sales and 3rd party operators to sell CPKC Transload service

  • Represent CPKC Transload at industry and market related conferences

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent experience is required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a transportation, commercial and/or operations environment

  • Budgeting and planning experience is required

  • Strong negotiation and Project Management skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to think creatively and independently

    Management Conductor Program:

    Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
