Indian Health Service Registered Nurse (Infection Prevention) in Claremore, Oklahoma

Summary This Registered Nurse (Infection Prevention) position is located at the Claremore Indian Hospital (CIH). The Incumbent serves as the subject matter expert for the CIH Infection Control (IC) function and has technical and professional oversight of the IC program. The position reports to the Supervisory Nurse-Health Protection. Sign-on bonus and/or Relocation Incentive available. A one-two year service agreement is required, failure to fulfill the agreement may result in repayment. Responsibilities Formulate policies and procedures for infection control to meet regulatory agencies guidelines. Evaluate, develop and implement the Infection Control services program for CIH. Develop and coordinate internal review systems to assure that both clinical and administrative activities are in compliance with agency and accrediting and regulatory requirements. Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire. After you begin your employment, your continued employment is contingent upon the outcome of a complete background investigation as determined by the sensitivity level of your position. You may be subject to a credit check as a part of the background investigation process. Qualifications This is an open until filled position. The first certificate of eligibles will be pulled on 01/29/2024. Subsequent certificates will be pulled every two weeks until the position has been filled. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):In order to qualify for this position, your application must demonstrate that you meet all three of the following Basic Requirements: 1 - Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR Degree from Foreign Medical School:Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools must be included in your application if you graduated from a foreign nursing school. 2 - License: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. 3 - Specialized Experience: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-11: Developing policies and procedures for infection control to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements; knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and procedure to apply infection control practice to hospital programs; knowledge of The Joint Commission, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, Center of Disease Control, and Occupational Safety Health Association's accreditation policies and guidelines; ability to analyze data, conduct rounds, and initiate the appropriate action with the findings; skill in research methodology including design, data collection, and analysis required for interpreting current research articles and reports; experience with conducting educational training on infection prevention in a large group setting; skill with providing oversight, direction, and coordination of projects and investigations related to infection control services. OR A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education This position has an education requirement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
