MD Anderson Cancer Center Manager, Sterile Processing in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate for the Manager of Sterile Processing Ops will have a bachelor's degree in allied health or related and a minimum of five years of experience in sterile processing to include two years of supervisory experience. Should have strong written and verbal communication, people management is a primary and critical job function technical acumen/certification for Sterile Processing. Will work in the Procedures & Therapeutics Perioperative Services Department overseeing 65+ employees. (Incentive Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Management

Oversee all aspects of sterile processing for the main operating rooms, ambulatory operating rooms, clinics, research areas, to include the decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization, sterile storage, distribution of sterilized products, inventory management, and supervision of the staff. Monitors and assesses the department's quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, performance improvement, and regulatory programs to ensure consistency in sterilization policies, procedures, and products across the institution and liaisons with institutional partners concerning the same.

Resources

Manages sterile processing staff including all aspects of the candidate selection process, orientation, coaching and counseling, continuing education and staff in-services, scheduling, productivity requirements, and continuous staffing needs on a daily and ongoing basis. Oversees the Sterile Processing budget in conjunction with the Director and provides monthly and quarterly updates on instrumentation repair and replacement expenses. Identifies and implements opportunities for cost reduction and expense control. Collaborates with surgeons, clients, staff, and vendors to forecast future instrumentation and sterilization equipment needs.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Allied Health or related field.

Preferred: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five years experience in sterile processing in a large operating room environment to include two years of supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. May substitute required degree with additional years of experience.

Preferred: Operating room experience and/or healthcare leadership.
