Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Engineering Technician, GS-0802-07/08/09 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Operations Division Tri-Lakes Project Office. Responsibilities Responsible for installation, maintenance, operation, monitoring and evaluation of all dam safety instrumentation and equipment. Observe, inspect, collect, and record data readings from instrumentation used in assuring the stability of four Tri-Lakes Project Dams Review requests and plans of proposed construction that might affect the dams and appurtenant structures and recommend approval and/or changes to the proposed work. Collaborate with and assist organizational units of such Project Management, Real Estate and Engineering Division relative to the design of flood damage reduction projects to prevent operation and maintenance problems. Prepare and interpret plans and specifications for small construction and service contracts in support of a major flood control project. Utilize a computerized maintenance management system to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis and quality of the data entered. Operate and install service gates, emergency gates and bulkheads; inspect, repair, and maintain the appurtenant structures and systems of the dam and participates in annual and periodic dam inspections Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized experience is defined as:1) Participate in routine inspections of public facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. AND 2) Observing and collecting performance data from a variety of instrumentation systems and technical equipment. AND 3) Utilizing spreadsheet software to input and analyze data to develop charts, tables, reports, and graphs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-8 Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Inspect public facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. AND 2) Observing and collecting performance data from a variety of instrumentation systems and technical equipment. AND 3) Utilizing spreadsheet software to input and analyze data to develop charts, tables, reports, and graphs. AND 4) Providing technical assistance to prepare contract plans and specifications for the modification, repair, maintenance, replacement of facilities and equipment. OR 5) Performing a variety of contract administration duties to include interpreting plans and specifications, developing scopes of work, and preparing cost estimates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
