Role Summary:

The Factory Automation Engineer will be working with a group to implement automated manufacturing systems within BHGE Supply Chain. This opportunity will report to the Factory Automation Manager and will focus on a large manufacturing system integration project but would also support the implementation of automated equipment, processes and systems in other areas of the factory. A sign on-bonus will be offered.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of the existing process control infrastructure, configuration, requirements, networks, level of automation, etc.

  • Maintain accuracy and content of the control system key documentation (Configuration diagrams, network diagrams, control system architecture and process descriptions, etc.)

  • Understanding of the plant controls & IT criteria, standards, and guidelines.

  • Oversee the controls/instrumentation and IT activities in the factory (PLC & HMI design, training, programming, etc.) in support of capital investment and maintenance.

  • Support the existing and future expansion activities related to MES to ensure proper design, installation, support, and compliance.

  • Participate in the automation engineering efforts to ensure that the design, drawings and specifications meet process requirements, are cost effective, and are in accordance with good engineering practices for all capital projects in the factory.

  • Participate in the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and validate electrical and automation requirements.

  • Participate in Commissioning, Qualification, Validation (CQV)

  • Prepare timely progress reports, including revised schedule, engineering charges, budget, etc., and distribute them to other members of the project team as needed

  • Maintain liaisons with other departments, disciplines and facilities to provide necessary support and expertise as necessary

  • Provide technical support to maintenance, production, safety, quality, etc

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in engineering or equivalent experience, preferably electrical engineering

  • 5-7 years’ experience with integration of automated equipment, processes and systems

  • Good knowledge of local electrical code and standards

  • Good knowledge of Instrumentation and Process Control Systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of HMIs, PLCs and safety controllers. Preferably RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk ME/SE, Siemens Step 7

  • Experience with KUKA robots would be preferred.

  • Good Knowledge of VFD and servo systems.

  • Experience with implementing factory vision systems.

  • Knowledge on manufacturing IT, industrial networks, SQL and applications

  • Good knowledge of electrical safety and compliance with protocol.
