Manage multiple ongoing research programs in the bioengineering and neurosurgery fields; maintain equipment including cell culture facility, molecular biology assays, cryotome, and mechanical testing devices; assist in planning and executing experiments by users and performs in vivo and in vitro experiments; ensure compliance with all institutional and federal guidelines (EHRS, IACUC, AAALAC, DEA); lead preparation of animal protocols based on literature review and research efforts; identify and develop new research projects; develop new methods, train, and assist others with learning and performing surgical, electrophysiology, and tissue assays; perform and troubleshoot cellular and molecular assays of neural tissue and co-cultures; and perform data analysis, interpretation, and graphing using different software such as ProAnalyst, Matlab, DYNA, JMP, FfouroSNAP.
Requirements:
Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology or a closely related life science field. Must have three (3) years of experience with each of the following:
- Maintaining lab equipment including cell culture facility, molecular biology assays, cryotome, and mechanical testing devices;
- Performing in vivo and in vitro experiments including conducting animal studies using specialized surgeries, behavioral assays, and tissue harvests;
- Setting up and managing cell culture platforms including neurons/glia and collagen gels;
- Complying with all institutional and federal guidelines (EHRS, IACUC, AAALAC, DEA); and
