Amazon Dangerous Goods Program Manager - Amazon Air, Dangerous Good Compliance in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Amazon’s Dangerous Goods team is looking for Program Managers to plan and execute dangerous goods compliance projects and maintain operational performance in Brazil.

The Dangerous Goods (DG) Program Manager will ensure DG products meet applicable local and global regulatory requirements, strategize with internal stakeholders to support business expansion, develop best-in-class standard operational processes, improve them and provide support to stakeholders during the implementation phase.

The candidate will maintain and continually seek opportunities to improve existing processes via benchmark and best practices while interacting with a broad group of stakeholders and functions.

The candidate needs to be able to work in an ambiguous environment, while managing projects and diving deep into operations. It also requires an aptitude to adapt to scope changes, to propose solutions, to be able to drive processes across Amazon’s expanding network and linking into local/regional and global initiatives.

Key job responsibilities

The Program Manager will need to Think Big and Invent & Simplify to build mechanisms to scale the team’s resources. Working within the broader Amazon compliance organization, she/he will identify opportunities to leverage technology to build and improve upon a best-in-class systems for DG transportation and classification.

A day in the life

• This individual will work closely with numerous internal partner teams, including: Amazon Fulfillment Technology, Transportation, Catalog, Classification, Legal, FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon), External Fulfillment and our operations teams.

• The Program Manager will demonstrate excellent judgment and instincts in decision-making, and proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge of Amazon’s businesses, fulfillment models, and relevant technologies.

• A successful candidate will work across senior levels of leadership in multiple organizations to align on processes and proposed controls on a local/regional and global scale while delivering high-quality work on time.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Sao Paulo, SP, BRA

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree;

• Proven experience in a program management role, preferably in a highly regulated industry such as petrochemical, automotive, pharmaceutical etc.;

• Experience driving process improvement with technology

• Regulated Hazardous Materials or other compliance experience

• Familiarity with DOT, ADR, CLP, GHS, IFCC, and NFPA codes/laws;

• English and Portuguese proficiency language, both oral and verbal;

• Demonstrated skill and passion for problem solving and operational excellence;

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA, Ph.D or related advanced degree.

• Certification and/or experience in Dangerous Goods or regulated hazardous materials compliance

• Familiarity interpreting and applying requirements of Brazil, Latin American countries dangerous goods regulations and standards (Resoluções ANTT, Portarias, NOMs), including Europe, North America and Asia.

• Experience managing regulations and standards from National Ground Transportation Agency (ANTT), National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO), as well other global regulations and standards like DOT, ADR, IATA

• In-depth knowledge and practical skills in applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) philosophy and methodology.

• Previous experience in an e-commerce environment or other fast-paced, technology driven businesses a plus;

• Experience working in Dangerous Goods and/or compliance organization;

• Knowledge of data warehouse and SQL is a strong plus
