JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State’s Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks customer service-centered individuals for multiple Admissions Assistant openings within the Undergraduate Recruitment team. Reporting to the Admissions Assistant Supervisor, these Intermediate Support positions will require excellent communication skills, as the primary focus of the role will be answering incoming telephone calls from a wide audience, including prospective students and families.

These roles are identified to be re-classified under the larger Enrollment Management unit within the next academic year, performing the same primary duties as part of a collective front-facing team. Coverage will include information from the Undergraduate Admissions Office, the Office of Student Aid, the Office of the University Registrar, and the Office of the Bursar.

These roles require three months of in-office training, after which time, the supervisor may approve a flexible work arrangement that combines a hybrid of remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as first point of contact for the Undergraduate Admissions Office and Enrollment Management units via telephone (up to 8-hours daily), email, web, and in-person interactions

  • Handle, assist, and direct incoming calls, emails, web interactions, and in-person interactions

  • Provide clear support and information regarding the Enrollment Management processes, requirements, etc. in a fast-paced environment

  • Learn and maintain large knowledge banks of information across Enrollment Management units and Penn State in general

  • Review and update student records, working with various technology platforms and staff members

  • Assist external audiences with visit registration and general travel and directional information

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism to the highest standards

  • Track and report interaction feedback

  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff trainings, meetings, and recruitment events

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Minimally requires a High school diploma/GED or Vocational training/degree or higher plus 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience

  • Exemplary customer service experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated comfort with technology

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (LionPATH), Slate (or other CRM system), and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred

  • Capacity to work in an inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative team and professional environment

  • Appreciation of working with diverse populations

  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills

  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability

  • Friendly and professional demeanor

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
